Come to the Rudolph Side, with me and ORLG and E90M3. We don't have cookies, but we have horrible kitsch on otherwise respectable cars.

I still think the fintail would become enraged if I tried something like this.  That Galaxie doesn’t look too pleased either.

You’d think the badge in the grill would be the perfect place to affix a Rudolph nose, but the badge is a bit too big.

That makes the nose look a little droopy, like the car is even more displeased.

‘63-4 Galaxies do look a bit like this up front, come to think of it...

I have a funny story on the big Ferd. “How its value increased nearly 1300%”.

See, when I first got it, the NC DMV tax-valued it at $800. For some reason, possibly it having been a decade since somebody tried to register the exact combination 500+sedan + 1963. Me, having bought it for $1500: “Weird flex, but OK”.

Fast-forward to this year, and the evaluation is suddenly, and without a “hmm, we fucked up” notice of any kind, suddenly my registration says it’s worth $11k. Uh, say... NC DMV? Are you actually offering that?

I haven’t called them up to dunk on them yet. It’s really hard to say what it’s worth exactly, though, because on Hemmings, the 63.5 R-codes have blown the valuation tool to absolute smithereens. “Uh, somewhere between $8k and $120k based on recent sales... I guess?”

Wow, does that affect your registration or insurance cost ? That’s bonkers. But sort of not surprising, given that one engine adds $100k to the price.

Also this car is still kicking around local CL for various prices...

There are some hot non-R-code models that get elevated prices too . A Victoria two-door with a 406 I could see going for nearly $40k... and there’s actually one that is exactly that and nearly exactly that on Hemmings right now.

The property tax on my registration based on that goes up like $80 a year or something. Not insane by any means, but kind of annoying.

I seem to recall a couple hinky/goofy things about that car the last time I took a look at it, but no total deal-breakers.

It’s definitely not a happy look, and I suspect the car thinks the nose is beneath its dignity.
